Science (Flight)

FLIGHT

Aim: To learn about flight and aerodynamics.

  • In your groups of 3 you will make a paper plane and measure its distance and behavior.
  • In groups of 3 you will make a water rocket and record its distance and behavior.
Definition:The action or process of flying through the air.

4 forces of flight:

  1.   Gravity
  2.    Thrust
  3.   Drag
  4.   Lift

Paper Plane:

Material:

1.One Paper
2.One Paper clip
3. One Ruler
4.One Scissor

Steps:
  1. Fold the paper in half vertically.
  2. Unfold the paper and fold each of the top corners into the center line.
  3. Fold the top edges into the center line.
  4. Fold the plane in half toward you.
  5. Fold the wings down, matching the top edges up with the bottom edge of the body.
  6. Finish

Findings:

Plane Type
Distance
Behavior
Normal
2.7 MetersStraight line

Ailerons
3.0 Meters Curved

Paper clip

3.8 MetersStraight line

Conclusion:
Now we know all the martial , steps, the forces of flight and how much meters and Distance our paper plane can go. Try them outside and you will probably see them in better action, keep practicing so you will be able to make  your paper plane go to a bigger distance or fly higher.

Conclusion 2:
According to the plane type the smallest distance was the Normal type and flew in a straight line. The Aileron type had a distance of 3.0 Meters and flew curved and the last type was the paper clip type that has the highest distance of 3.8 Meters and also flew a straight line.
