The Dropping Pin Experiment
During Chemistry, we have been learning about conduction and we have been doing an experiment, we set up a bunsen burner and stuck 5 pins on a metal rod, and set up a time when the pins fall off.
Here are the timers on when the five pins fell off:
1 pin: 4.41 sec
2 pin: 14.28 sec
3 pin: 27.43 sec
4 pin: 53.88 sec
5 pin: 1:46.26 mins
Explain what happened:
The heat from the bunsen burner conducted/was traveling around the metal rod, which causes the metal rod to vibrate and heated up the vaseline which cause the pins to fall down.
