Ernest Rutherford Speech

 Ernest Rutherford Speech

Sir Ernest Rutherford | Items | National Library of New Zealand | National Library of New Zealand

During hurumanu 1&2 we have been trying to make our own speech about the leaders of our choice, here is the speech I have created.

Hello everyone, I will be introducing and talking about an inspiring leader, Ernest Rutherford.

Ernest Rutherford was born on the 30th of August in 1871 in New Zealand and died in 1937 on October 19, he was known for pioneering studies of radioactivity.

He was the son of James Rutherford and was studying at Havelock school and Nelson college and later won a scholarship to Canterbury College.

One of his greatest achievements was winning the Nobel prize in 1908 in chemistry, the Copley Medal in 1922 and the Franklin Medal in 1924.

In 1917 he performed the first artificially induced nuclear reaction, and in 1919 Ernest Rutherford became the director of Cavendish Laboratory.

Between 1925 to 1930, Ernest Rutherford served as the President of Royal Society and was appointed to the Order of Merit during the 1925 Years of honour in 1931.

I think Ernest Rutherford is an inspiring leader because he has many accomplishments despite the difficulties and hard times and was resilient and committed in his work and did not let anyone get in his way in achieving it.

Thank you for taking the time to listen, this is all I have to say.
