Method: How to make dirty water:

1. Use a 250mL beaker to get 200mL of water.
2. Add 2 spoonfuls of dirt.
3. Add 10mL of oil.
4. Add a spoonful of pebbles
5. Stir it for 2 minutes.
6. Label a piece of paper with your names and place it under your beaker.
7. Take a photo of your experiment.

Method 2: How to dilute your dirty water:

1. Mix the dirty water for one minute.
2. Get a measuring cylinder and measure 100ml of your dirty water in another beaker.
3. Add 100mL of water in the beaker where you poured in 100mL of your dirty water.
4. Mix it for two minutes.
5. Pour out your original 100mL of dirty water.
6. Repeat what you did during step 2 to step 5.
7. Take a photo of your experiment.

Method 3 (Day 1):

1. Groups require a retort stand, two clamps, two funnels, one piece of filter paper, and cloth.
2. Prepare and set up the clamps as the demo is.
3. You and your group must decide how to arrange a filtration setup.
4. Leave beside your dirty water for now.
5. Take a photo of your filtration setup.

Method 3 (Final Day):

1. Make sure your funnel is ready and both are lined up properly.
2. Slowly pour your dirty water into the cloth funnel.
3. Check on it every five minutes or so.

Discussion:

Dissolving: Mixing water and solid til the solid disapears, something like mixing coffee powder with liquid til it disapears and creates flavor.

Solute: The solid you are trying to dissolve for example during the experiment we were trying to dissolve like mixing dirt and pebbles in the water.

Solvent: The liquid for example during the experiment, the water was our solvent.

Solution: Is the mixture that is created for example, the dirty water was the sulution that was mixed with water, dirt and pebbles.

Soluble: Meaning that it can disolve for example, when you mix raro with liquid it disapears, that means its Soluble.

Insoluble: Meaning that it can't disolve for example, when you mix a gold coin with liquid, it doesn't disapear, meaning it is insoluble.

Dilution: Meaning that the solution gets weaker for adding more liquid for example, if you add more solvent to your coffee and the solute(Solid) will taste weaker then it is called dilution.

Concentrated: Meaning that there are many solid present and strong flavor flowing while less solvent(liquid) for example, if you add lots of raro but not too much liquid, the flavor will be strong and will be noticed which is called concentrated.

Diluted: More solvent(liquid) present then solute(solid) which makes them hardly noticed and will not have that much flavor for example, if you add more water in your raro then the taste and flavor will be weaker which is called, diluted.

Filtering: Meaning when you can separate the solute(solid) from the solvent(liquid) for example, we were trying to separate the dirt, pebbles away from the water which is called, Filtering.

Filterate: Meaning once the solvent has been filtered for example, during the experiment we filtered the dirty water and separated the dirt and pebbles which is called the filterate.

 Concluesion (Did is work?):

During our experiement, it seemed that the solute (dirt and pebbles) were separated from the solvent (Liquid/Water) though we didn't know if it was completly removed.

During Chemistry we were creating dirty water in a group of two or three. 

What we used during the experiment was water, dirt, oil, and pebbles, and others are included in our methods.

During Wananga, we have been researching about our culture and a topic of our choice about it. 

My topic was about the Philippines and I have been researching about its sports and why it is important to the Philippines. 

One of the facts I have learned as I was researching was that how sports represent the Philippines is that sports are one of the important parts of their culture, I also found out was that sports in the Philippines were originated with Arnis, which is one of the traditional sports in the Philippines.

ESOL Week 8

ESOL  Week 8

During Esol in week 8, our ESOL teacher split us into three groups.

We each got paper and were writing one word and passing it on to another person, they also add one word and pass it on so they can add it as well, it was called hot potato. 

Most of the words we made were funny as we took turns sharing our made-up sentence, we also trying to make a sentence by alphabet order, there were also some new words I didn't hear before and I've learned more about my groups.

Hurumanu 1/2 Research

During Hurumanu we were told to research Who am I questions in order from famous New Zealand Achievers using the NZ hall of fame given by our teachers.

Here is an order of the famous New Zealand Achievers.

1.) Dave Dobby is the holder of the NZ Order of Merit.

2.) Vi Cotrell is the person who started the Trade Aid company

3.) Peter Snell is a New Zealand middle-distance runner and he won three gold medals.

4.) Joan Wiffen is a person that served in the WW2

5.) Peter James Blake, he is the person who got killed by the pirates.
