Wonder ( Movie and Book difference )

Wonder ( Movie and Book difference )

During the past few terms in ESOL, we have been reading a book called Wonder and watched a movie about it and we have been comparing and trying to find a difference between them.

The difference that I like between the movie and the book is in the book version it showed an additional chapter that at the end of the awards, there was an extra scene when Auggie and his friends took pictures together on picture day. And of course, the main difference between the movie and the book that I found is that movie shows what's happening, unlike the book.

Why I think I really liked the first difference between the book and the story is that it made the story, slightly more memorable than the movie and I think it was a good extra scene added to the story.

Gladiator Advert

 Gladiator Advert

During Hurumanu 2 Social Studies, we have been making advert posters of Gladiator and were told to make it up and include some roman numerals. What I enjoyed doing in this task was finding really new and interesting images from Gladiator, one of the things that were challenging to me was when I had to make up my advertising because I'm not really good a making up things, What I may do differently next time is that I may do this in a different app other than google drawing.

Here is the Poster I created:

What I did during the Holidays

What I did during the Holidays

During the holidays I spent most of my time at home. One of the things I did was watch anime, hang out with my brother, and text my friends.

One of the things that I enjoyed doing in the holidays was doing a group chat and playing with my friends online because I really enjoyed able to being able to communicate with them even if it wasn’t in person.

One of the things I had fun with by myself during the holidays was drawing because it gave me a relaxing feeling and what I did outside during the holidays was going to QE2 with my siblings and what I enjoyed most in there was going to the hydro slide and chasing my brother in the pool.

One of the things I learned during the holidays was that some were new things I never knew about my friends. I've also learned new ways to draw positions in hands and bodies and faces, and I have also learned more about my little brother and what he has done and achieved in school.

How I felt about one of the first weeks during the holidays was a bit tired and anxious and started getting cheerful and used to it during the middle of the Holidays and half of me started to feel excited about school again and my other felt a bit nervous.

NZ Maori March DLO

NZ Maori March DLO

During Term 3 of Social Studies, we have been learning and researching about the NZ Maori Land and when, how, and why it happens, and what was its outcome or effect on New Zealand.

What worked well for me in this was Mapping the locations in NZ where the Moari March traveled and where it ended because I loved how we were given an option to use Google Earth for it or somewhere else, it was one of the tasks I really enjoyed as I was researching.

What was Challenging for me to do was answering the questions about Moari land March because some of the questions were related to the Treaty of Waitangi, overall it was still enjoyable.

What I may do differently next time is making a DLO somewhere other than google slides.

Here is a summary of what I have learned about the NZ Maori March:

ESOL Term 3 2021

 ESOL Term 3 2021

What was the best lesson and why?

One of my favorite lessons I have done during this term was reading all kinds of different novels in ESOL because I really like diving into something new and interesting and what I don't really know about.

What did you enjoy doing and why?

One of the things I really enjoyed in ESOL was doing Kahoot and doing writing because I really liked how silent it gets especially during vocabulary listening.

What was one task you were proud of and why?

One of the tasks I am proud of doing is the task where you answer questions about the book you were reading because it makes you summarise and makes you go back on what you have learned.

What is something you could do differently / better next term?

What I would do differently next term is I would work somewhere elsewhere it is not distracting because there were some times where I get distracted from others.

Anything you wish to share about this term?

Term 3 was really short and okay and I really enjoyed working and learning something new, along with my friends during this Term.

New Zealand Moari Land March

 New Zealand Maori Land March

During Hurumanu 1 and 2 in Social Studies, we have been learning about the New Zealand Maori March and we have been mapping the locations they visited as they were travelling around New Zealand. What worked well for me during the work was mapping the locations, what was a little difficult and challenging for me to do was doing a screenshot of the map due to how large the map was, and what I may do next time when I do this is I may do this in Google Maps instead of Google Earth.

Badminton Blog

Ways to Score a Point in Badminton

During Week 7 in PE, we have been playing and learning techniques from badminton. In this blog, I'm going to tell you how to make a score in badminton.

How this works is that it can be played as a 1v1 or 2v2.

One of the ways you can do to score a point in badminton is simple, if the shuttlecock falls into the opponent's ground then it counts as a point to you, Another way you can do to score is if your opponent's hit goes out of the line or court counts as a point.

If you hit the shuttlecock and it fails to go over the net then it counts as the opponent's point and if you hit the shuttlecock and it goes out of the court then it's the other side's net.

There are usually three rounds in Badminton and the first team to gain 21 points is the winner and your need to win about two points if both teams are 20.

Human Rights Poster

 Human Rights Poster

In Social Studies, we have been learning about human rights and what they mean, we have also been learning about the types of human rights and we have been making a poster of them in Canva.

The things I have learnt about human rights is we all have the right to live freely and equally treated and protected under the law and that no one can take our human rights, what I found really fun when doing this work was when I was making my poster, it was fun when adding images and organizing the text.

Here is the poster I made about human rights in Canva:

Chemistry: Effect on Heat

Effect on Heat

Discussion:

Contraction (Imploding Can):

"Contraction" means a process of getting smaller, shorter, or tighter, for example, my hand contracted when I made a fist. How "contraction" was related to the "Imploding Can" experiment was when we placed the "Can" filled by hot on the container with cold water, the hot water, and the cold water "contracted" which causes the "Can" to implode.

Expansion (Ball in Hoop):

Top 4 Considerations When Expanding Your Channel Program | CGS Blog

"Expansion" means a something becoming larger or extending, for example, the balloon expanded when I blowed it. How this was was related to the "Ball and Hoop" experiment was when I add hot water in the metal ball, the heat causes it to "expand", if you add cold water, it will get smaller.

Conduction (Dropping pin):

20 Heat Conduction Illustrations Illustrations & Clip Art - iStock

"Conduction" means the heat traveling through a solid, causing it to vibrate more and more, for example, the pan starts to conduct after I heated it up. How this was related to the "Dropping Pin" experiement was when I heated up, using a bunsen burner to the metal rod along with the five pins attached to it, it causes the heat to conduct through the metal rod, which causes the metal rod to vibrate and the five pins to fall down.

Convection in liquid (Permanganate Crystal in Water):

Heat Transfer

"Convection in liquid" means when the liquid is heated up, they start to become less dense, meaning they aren't close to each other before as like one object.

Convection in gas (Teabag rockets):

Convection Gases Stock Vector (Royalty Free) 443241574

"Convection in gas" means when the gas is heated up, it becomes less dense, meaning that they aren't that close to each other before as one object, then rises, when they cool down, they start to move down. How this was related to the "Teabag Rockets" was when we heated up the tea bag, it cause it to burn then rises and starts to fall as it cools.
