Ernest Rutherford Speech

 Ernest Rutherford Speech

Sir Ernest Rutherford | Items | National Library of New Zealand | National Library of New Zealand

During hurumanu 1&2 we have been trying to make our own speech about the leaders of our choice, here is the speech I have created.

Hello everyone, I will be introducing and talking about an inspiring leader, Ernest Rutherford.

Ernest Rutherford was born on the 30th of August in 1871 in New Zealand and died in 1937 on October 19, he was known for pioneering studies of radioactivity.

He was the son of James Rutherford and was studying at Havelock school and Nelson college and later won a scholarship to Canterbury College.

One of his greatest achievements was winning the Nobel prize in 1908 in chemistry, the Copley Medal in 1922 and the Franklin Medal in 1924.

In 1917 he performed the first artificially induced nuclear reaction, and in 1919 Ernest Rutherford became the director of Cavendish Laboratory.

Between 1925 to 1930, Ernest Rutherford served as the President of Royal Society and was appointed to the Order of Merit during the 1925 Years of honour in 1931.

I think Ernest Rutherford is an inspiring leader because he has many accomplishments despite the difficulties and hard times and was resilient and committed in his work and did not let anyone get in his way in achieving it.

Thank you for taking the time to listen, this is all I have to say.

Cup Challenge

 Cup Challenge:

During Hurumanu 5 we were separated into groups and we were each given a cup and string and rubberband and were told to make a cup holder using the string and rubber bands and our aim was to put all the cups safely to the other table.

Was IP skill did you use or show? Active listening, Teamwork, Patience, and dependability.

How did it help with the success of the activity? Active listening gave my group a hand and we had motivation with the work.

Who did you work with that worked well today? Hrishaal, Garick, and Hanna.

If you were to do it again, how would you do it differently? I would still do it the same but we will take more time and be more careful grabbing and putting the cups on the table.

What level of Helison behavior model were you working in this activity and provide examples of this? Level 3 for example me and my group worked cooperatively as a group and had no complaints when we were given a direct task or part to do.

Here were the results after the Cup Challenge (We are the blue team):

ESOL 100 Words Challenge

100 Words Challenge

During ESOL we were doing a 100 words challenge that works by choosing a topic of your choice that is given by your teacher and writing it into 100 words or more.

Here is the 100 words challenge I did about what I hate about chores:

What I hate most about doing chores

One of the things I hate most about doing chores is doing the dishes because sometimes

my siblings and parents will give me an extra plate for me to wash especially when I am

almost done with the dish, it is also because I sometimes crack a plate when doing it.

What I also hate most about doing chores is taking out the bin because my job is the take

out the organic bin and that when I need to hang the clothes, they will sometimes give me

extra clothes to hang, I also hate chores because is that sometimes they might give me chores to do despite it being my sibling's turn.
